Pensão Amor used to be a hotel that rented rooms in Lisbon’s old prostitution area. In 2011 it was converted into office spaces for young professionals.
Mainside, the company behind the project, were very aware of the building’s “historical” heritage. Instead of trying to cover up that legacy they invited us to create mural paintings on the buildings main stairway’s walls, based on old burlesque posters. We proposed to create several layers of painting, to simulate that there had been different interventions over the years.
